Generon Expands Membrane Manufacturing Facility

Purpose-built plant adds 17,000 square feet of capacity and continues to keep all membrane production under one roof

HOUSTON, TX — [October 29, 2026] — Generon, a world leader in the manufacture of hollow fiber polymeric membranes, announces it is relocating its membrane manufacturing operations from its longtime facility in Pittsburg, California, to a new facility in Livermore, California. The move adds 17,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity and consolidates Generon’s membrane production into one complete facility under a single roof, positioning the company to meet growing global demand for its gas separation technology.

Generon designs and manufactures its membranes in-house, giving the company direct control over the quality and performance of every system it builds. Its membrane portfolio includes nitrogen generation membranes, dehydration membranes and a range of process membranes for applications such as CO₂/methane separation as well as other applications. The new facility will feature dedicated process lines for the specific polymer formulations each application requires, and the consolidated layout is expected to deliver significant efficiency gains across production.

The location itself is part of the opportunity. Livermore is a major science and technology hub, home to world-class research institutions and a deep pool of technical talent, making it a natural fit for Generon’s continued investment in membrane innovation.

Generon expects to begin operations at the Livermore facility by the end of the second quarter of 2027. Throughout the transition, Generon is building a strategic membrane inventory to ensure continued, uninterrupted supply for its customers.
